water drop leaf What is Water Harvesting?
Water harvesting is essentially intercepting stormwater runoff from a surface (e.g., roof, parking area, land surface) and putting it to beneficial use. This runoff can be stored for future use in cisterns or soil, or redirected and repurposed in buildings and landscape. Harvested water is an alternative water source that supplements or replaces relying on groundwater, surface water and treated domestic water, and is part of an integral design strategy to manage stormwater more efficiently and effectively.
